I always thought CAM was Complimentary and Alternative Medicine. I've seen you responding a lot with this statement. If you want to dilute the definition of CAM that's fine.

I always preferred So Called Alternative Medicine anyway. SCAM just sounds more accurate.

Hey Si, do you have an update on the stone-in-the-bhaji story?

And can I request an article on stem-cell research? I want to know about it but am too lazy to use google, so you do that and I might read your article.

well since you asked....

I agree that "abortion arguments between people who disagree are essentially unresolvable". Probably applies to most moral debate I guess.

I also agree with the "continuum" concept although continuums are dangerous places for debaters to be.

I'm not sure I agree with the unsubstantiated assertion that "The killing of an adult human with all its memories, relationships and experiences has far wider and deeper implications than the killing of a foetus in the womb". Why? The inference I take is that you value memories and relationships somehow. Does it follow that the more memories you have the more valuable you are - or, that the number of relationships you have justifies survival? Hermits are expendable, amnesiacs the same? What are these deep and wide ranging implications?

I'll agree that there is more impact on relationships/memories when an adult dies - but I can't agree that there are "deeper implications". Those deeper implications will be impacted when that adult eventually dies - the universe will carry on. I don't see how it's OK to have an abortion because the foetus hasn't got memories. (I can think of a number of justifications btw - just don't get that one).

So what's your view on capital punishment? Can that be justified on the basis of negative relationships and "evil" memories? I note you trying to stay well away from that debate - but that's the perils of continuums.
